Two thousand US troops visited Finland last week and stayed longer than previously;but there are no plans for a US brigade in Finland.Finland has 50 officers in Norfolk,Virginia.Finland joining NATO means the Alliance's border with Russia has doubled.Finnish military instructors will not operate inside Ukraine.Finland has developed contingency plans to repulse Russian incursions,but there is currently no credible threat to NATO Allies.

Military honours for Finland's President Alexander Stubb in Berlin - Germany
Military honours were rendered for the inaugural visit of President Alexander Stubb of Finland to President Frank-Walter Steinmeier of Germany at Bellevue Palace,Berlin.The honour formation is led by the deputy commander of the guard battalion,Lieutenant Colonel Sven Uberschaer.The staff music corps plays under the direction of Mrs.Captain Holzschuh.The honour formation includes all three Bundeswehr branches:German Army,German Navy and Luftwaffe.

Finland is considering accepting a NATO Land Component Command on its territory,which would be under Joint Forces Command Brunssum,the Netherlands.This is because NATO's land border with Russia has doubled since Finland joined NATO,adding nearly 900 mi/1448 km of border.
